NHW is set up by members of the local community and its objectives are to prevent crime, anti social-behaviour, reduce the fear of crime, reduce the incidences of domestic fires and encourage community cohesion and the quality of life for residents and tenants. The Elmbridge Community Safety Partnership is pleased to report the 500th Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) in the Borough(Burwood Road in Hersham). This comes at time when the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has reported that NHW areas are effective in reducing crime. NHW areas suffer less than a quarter of the crime incidence elsewhere in the UK. UK. That is also reflected by a discount in premiums required by many insurance comapnies.
