Earlier this year staff at Guy Salmon, a family-oriented firm with a long history and strong roots in Thames Ditton, decided to help the Guide Hut Appeal. Lisa Williams: "Our staff wanted to choose something where we could see tangible results in the local community from our efforts and donations." Latest in a number of efforts was a car wash on 13 September at Guy Salmon's after-sales workshops off Portsmouth Road. Lisa along with colleagues Steve, Danny and Jacob gave up their Saturday to join with Guides, Brownies and Rainbows cleaning cars with the firm's professional equipment. The men did the pressure-washing and worked the automatic brushes while the girls did the finishing and vacuumed interiors. Drivers could have their car washed, and cleaned inside, while they sat in reception quaffing coffee and eating cakes made by the Guides, all for five pounds! In all, a fraction under £300 pounds was raised and a great deal of fun enjoyed by all. Photos below - click through the gallery.
As well as a continuing collection, staff at Guy Salmon are planning to mount a charity bike ride and support a Christmas raffle for the Guide Hut Appeal.
