The annual Flower Show of Esher Molesey Garden Society was held at St. Nicholas Church Hall on 16 August under Royal Horticultural Society rules that decree vegetables must be sized and fit for the kitchen. With the exception of a scruffy but powerful onion, chosen for weight above more svelte and immaculately groomed onions, the emphasis was on presentation and perfection. Tod Frost is the member to beat, and yet again an independent judge awarded him the greater part of the individual prizes. There were craft entries from Guides and Brownies and the photography entry was won by octogenarian Gerry Mitchell - who has a keen eye for a photograph.
