After the success of the inaugural event last year, the second Hampton Court Half Marathon will take place on Sunday 22nd February. The organisers have worked with Esher College, Elmbridge Borough Council, The Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and Surrey County Council, as the Highways Authority, on safety matters and with your Residents’ Association Councillors to ensure residents in the immediate area have been informed and disruption is kept to a minimum.
The route is essentially the same as last year but will be run in reverse, starting at and finishing at Esher College. The 3000 runners will set off at 8.30am but the following road closures will come into effect between 8:00am and 9:30am:-
• Embercourt Road (between Hampton Court Way and Station Road).
• Weston Green (between Esher College and Weston Avenue).
• Weston Avenue (entire length).
• Weston Green Road (entire length)
In addition the section of Weston Green Road from Hampton Court Way to College Drive (Esher College) will remain closed until 11.00.
In his letter to residents, Race Director Peter Wedderburn, said, " . . . . We will accommodate any residents who need to leave or enter any of the above roads during the road closure, and have instructed our marshals to let cars through when it is safe to do so.
We do apologise in advance for any disruption this may cause you. You will be pleased to know that significant sums of money are being raised for charities including the Royal Star and Garter, the Princess Alice Hospice, the Esher College Africa Trust, Momentum, the Mo Farah Foundation, The PC Andrew Duncan Memorial Fund and Cancer Recovery. In addition we are pleased to make a donation of £500 to the Milbourne Pond Appeal Fund, which has been set up to restore and improve the pond on Weston Green.
Many thanks in advance for your co-operation "
