Elmbridge Council wants to change the polling station for many Thames Ditton residents.

Elmbridge Council wants to change one of Thames Ditton's polling stations - from the Vera Fletcher Hall, Embercourt Road to the Community Centre, Mercer Close - for all elections, including the Referendum.  They say this is to “maximise voter convenience”.

The Vera Fletcher Hall is in the centre of the Thames Ditton CA voting district, close to the Station and Bus Stops. The Community Centre, Mercer Close is on the edge of the CA voting district.  If you are a commuter, will you find it more convenient to go to Mercer Close instead of crossing the road to the Vera Fletcher Hall before you go to work or return in the evening?

The Council says that the Vera Fletcher Hall serves only “some commuters” – the real figures are between 1500 and 1900 daily, as confirmed by South West Trains.

Parents of the 300 children at the Infants School are able to vote at the Vera Fletcher Hall when dropping off or collecting their children.

The Council has stated that parking is a problem at the Vera Fletcher Hall, but it is also a problem at the Community Centre, Mercer Close.

WE ALL HAVE UNTIL THURSDAY 10th MARCH TO OBJECT.

If you object to your polling station being moved from the Vera Fletcher Hall to the Community Centre, Mercer Close, you should email or write, by Thursday 10th March 2016 (when the consultation period ends)
