SGN, the gas network management company, has given the following notice of major gas works in The Drive - Grove Way area of Esher, commencing Monday 22 January, as shown in the map below.

You may be aware that we have recently been carrying out some work in Esher on Station Road and Ember Lane. We will be continuing our work in The Drive area of Esher, this essential work involves the replacement of old metal gas mains with new plastic pipe to ensure we continue to provide a safe and reliable gas supply to the local area. Our contractor Essex Utilities will undertake this work on our behalf.
So that we can minimise disruption, we have carefully consulted and planned our works in partnership with Surrey County Council. We have agreed to start our work on Monday 22 January, and last approximately 8 months. We’ll be working in three phases as follows:
Phase One – Approx. 12 weeks – We will be working in the footway in Grove Way progressing from Ember Lane towards The Drive. When we near the junction with The Drive, to ensure everyone’s safety, we will need to install temporary multi-way traffic lights around our work area.
Phase Two – Approx. 12 weeks – Working in the footway in The Drive between Grove Way and Ember Lane. Again, when we’re working near the junction with Grove Way, to ensure everyone’s safety, we will need to install temporary multi-way traffic lights around our work area.
Phase Three – Approx. 10 weeks – Working in the footway in The Woodlands and Carleton Close.
We will be working Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm. Where ever possible reinstatement work will be carried out at the weekend between 8am and 2pm. We are mindful of those people who live in the area and will try to minimise noisy activities where possible.
