Sunday 13 May 13.00 - 16.30 Giggs Hill Green The Dittons Fair Organised by Dittons Scout Group for which it is the main fund-raising event of the year, and always a well-attended village occasion. The Dog Show is hilarious and there is a very wide range of stalls and fairground activities including the legendary pig racing, and a tea tent serving homemade cakes. Arena events this year include rugby and karate displays. Entry is free, programmes (optional) are 50p each with a chance to win a prize in the draw. More information
Saturday 26 May 13.00 - 16.00 Thames Ditton High Street Summer Party Everyone's got together to stage a happy party in the High Street, which will be closed to traffic for the afternoon. Retailers and local businesses are strongly represented among sponsors and the events, which include dancing, dogs and a cupcake competition. Under the auspices of the Thames Ditton and Weston Green Residents' Association which provides insurance cover as well as a donation to fair publication expenses, and supported by the magazine About Thames Ditton. To some extent this will be an early Jubilee street party, with flags and bunting up for the duration - thanks to our Honsec Tricia Bland who has worked hard at that with RA loans. The Party/Fair promises to be an excellent venture which if successful might go on to future years. Let's hope the weather is fine!
Saturday 26 May 19.30Holy Trinity Church Claygate Choral Concert Ember Choral Society in praise of British music, will include works by Handel, Parry, Britten and George Shearing. Full programme and a ticket booking number are on the Ember Choral website. Tickets cost £12.50 (students £7.50).
