Title: Area next to station ramp
Post by: Cuboid on March 19, 2014, 07:27:54 AM
I have noticed that the waste land next to the ramp upto Platform 1 has been cleared (previously full of brambles) has been cleared and fence panel removed - any idea what they are doing here?? I am assuming this bit of land is owned by Network Rail given its proximity to the station. Looks like they have cleared the site ready to commence some sort of construction work.

If your curiosity gets the better of you, £6 is all it takes to do an online Land Registry title deeds search. I can't imagine any rail-related construction project that Network Rail might do here.

It is owned by Thames Water (they own the end of each of the gardens on that side of the road in Basingfield) as it is the route of the mains water pipe (that so dramatically leaked a few years ago).
Not sure what the plans are but don't think anything will be constructed as this would restrict access.

Hmm...

I would hazard a guess its just a tidy up after the fence broke (following the winds a month or so back) - and I am guessing they will replace the fence?

Hmm that said I had a proper look at the area yesterday and I reckon it would make for a nice location for a small coffee shop which possibly also sells some ammenities for people en route to home?

Maybe we can persuade Al to expand to there!

Just a random thought !

;)
