Title: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Juninho on February 10, 2012, 10:15:33 AM Would many people be interested / would go to a classical coffee morning at the VFH?
They run these in the Elgar rooms at the Royal Albert Hall - entrance gets you a coffee and pastry and you get to listen to some classical music. I was thinking how nice it would be on a Sunday morning to be able to go the VFH and listen to some classical music whilst having a coffee... just wondering if other people would be interested? I suppose it would have to be timed so as not to interfere with church go-ers. I just find it hard to make events at the VFH (though going tonight!) on Friday evenings and a Saturday/Sunday daytime event there would allow people with children to easily attend. Might be a silly idea - so feel free to poo poo it. Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: craigvmax on February 10, 2012, 10:23:14 AM I think its a great idea, I just never have any time!

....and what if it extended to bacon and eggs brunch?... If you will organise it, I'd certainly be likely to attend sometimes! (But not if Rachmaninov) Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Juninho on February 10, 2012, 10:51:56 AM mmm bacon
well thats an even better idea - but the sound of people munching on bacon sarnies might ruin the atmosphere somewhat? !! Unless we had a brunch followed by the music? hmmm I like it... they run a brunch at the royal albert as well - never been myself but I have been told its very popular. If any of you have time to ask people you know to see if its the kind of thing people would like to attend - I will email Ruth. Just to get an idea if people are interested (obviously without a date/time we wouldn't know for sure). Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Deborah on February 10, 2012, 10:58:38 AM I would be interested, as long as it's not too early!!!
Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Juninho on February 13, 2012, 10:16:58 AM Right- after a thoroughly enjoyable evening at the VFH watching Bum notes and Sliding Scales I would really like to make this classical coffee music work if there is enough interest.
Can you all check with your friends / family etc if its the type of thing they would be interested in? And report back on this thread? I would guestimate that in order for it to be worthwhile (for both the vfh and the performers) we would need about 40-50 people show up - so hoping we can find say 70-80 people who would be at least a little keen? Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Juninho on December 09, 2013, 12:39:46 PM This thread is a few years old but I was reminded what a wonderful venue the VFH is and that I really think this could/would work!
I mentioned it to a couple of people on Saturday and well it seemed it could be a go-er. As its Thames Ditton we may have to consider allowing children/kids - the downside is that could be a little distracting but lets see. There seems to be a gap at the end of Jan (after the pantos) - perhaps Jan 26th? If anyone on here has any connections/knows of any student (or otherwise) classical groups / bands etc- who would enjoy the exposure - please let me know! Title: Re: Classical coffee mornings at the VFH? Just an idea Post by: Juninho on January 22, 2014, 10:51:45 AM I still need to pick this up and I promise I will - hopefully early spring (in fact I am just posting this to goad myself into doing something about this).
I am now thinking something like classical music with coffee mornings and children welcome (hopefully with some sort of soft play far away from teh musicians!)! Residents' Association Forum | Powered by SMF 1.0.7.
