Title: Dog walker warning - Deer in Bushy Park
Post by: rudi on October 03, 2014, 03:11:24 PM
DOG WALKER WARNING: Just been to Bushy with the dog and while we were there another dog was sadly killed by a deer. Please be vigilant and take care if you walk your dog in Bushy. We will be giving it a miss until winter (when the deer have calmed down).

How terrible.
It would be great if they could deer proof a corner of the park for dog walkers.  I love seeing the deer but am constantly on edge when walking there with the dog.

I've noticed in home park the deer tend to stick north of the road and I have seen lots of dog walkers in home park on the southern end (ie close to the river).

Home park is so much quieter and I feel it actually has less deer and as there are less people they seem to be a lot calmer as well.

Obviously the deer are free to roam and this is not a guarantee but it's not a bad option to try out!

You'd want to stay south of the road regardless as they golf course is on the other side!

To me home park is like a little secret vs bushey - ok no cafe's but the golf club has an open club house!

Just a suggestion for dog walkers in case they were not aware of it!

Yes, I use Home Park and you are right - you rarely see big Stags on the path that runs parallel with the river.
Cheers
