Title: new year traffic queries

Just wanted to know about if it's allowed to park on white lines such as the ones near harvest lane.

Second, has there been a positive  affect with the pedestrain pathway, can we get some signage maybe.

Thirdly, when is station road and watts way due a resurface

Fourth, why do we have a lollipop man? Not lights on station road.

Five, why dont station road people want yellow lines, if 15 mph is to be enforced.

Six, can the police put either a camera / sign on peanut in high street to say No waiting (how about the RA doing one)

Seven, does the RA have a sinking find and how much

Eight, can the RA tell the local businessses to unload from the car park or get an unloading zone in the high st to elevate blocked traffic

Nine, provide signage on or before bridge via Weston green road for the A3 not through the village

Ten, RA provide signage to commuters to park on AshleyRoad car park

A lot of the above is just simple signage, best wishes.

My understanding is that drivers are not supposed to park on solid/crosshatched white lines but that does not have force of law.

Signage: it's the view of SCC Highways dept that there is in general too much signage everywhere, and that too many signs distract from essential sign messages, and clutter the visual environment, and that signs may be ineffective.  However, it seems to me personally that there might be something to be said for a sign in the car park near the footpath entrance, saying "footpath to High St" or something similar.

Watts Rd was resurfaced a year or two ago.  I don't know when SCC are planning to resurface station Rd.  See their website for how maintenance is prioritised.  They have not yet posted up the schedule for Elmbridge roadworks for 2014.  Longmead was done in 2013.  The High St is due to be done in FY 2013-2014 I am told.  I suggest you contact Surrey Highways for further info.

I am not aware of plans to enforce a 15mph zone; nor of the personal reasons of Station Rd residents for objecting to yellow line proposals in the last round of proposals.

I'm not clear what exactly your proposal is here, but certainly the RA can't erect signs on the public highway, that's for SCC.  As for surveillance cameras, these are controversial and require monitoring, which has costs.  For signage in general, see above.

There's no sinking fund as such.  The Treasurer will present the accounts to members at the AGM in March - come along.

The RA is not in a position to do that even if it was supported by any majority.  I am not aware that loading/unloading is a particular problem.  Does anyone else find that it is?  We want to improve access to the shops where we can and are looking to reopen the question of short term (free, unmetered) parking bays in the High St - see News section of TD Today Winter 2013.  That might also have the effects of freeing up passing traffic (as the bays would not necessarily be always blocked by parkers) and would help to get Ashley Rd car park more used.

Signage - see above.  Not clear exactly what message you would propose posting at exactly what points?

See general remarks on signage, but I wonder whether such a sign or public notice on the station platforms, if NR/SW Trains were willing, might help envourage commuting parkers in that direction?

Many thanks for your response - good sign / great path.

Interesting to read about the Thames Foundation, it will be great to have some more community spaces and paths.  There is still a problem parking not only on the peanut but also on the roadway,  cannot this area be yellow cross-hatched?

- I have never seen a policeman or warden put a parking fine on these vehicles, I would luv to see it, if only to see the arrogance persons face. 

The commuter problem may be more bearable on station road if one side of the bumps can be reduced or the ones which have two bumps, what is the process to make this happen.

There's a temporary sign from the car park to the High St.

I gather that Elmbridge have agreed more permanent signs from the car park to the High St and vice versa.  Hope to get them erected within a month or so.

There's still a dangerous situation ons station road and hjc end of high street, there is not enough room for two cars to pass and there just about enough for one at some places.

Can we not have wider paths please and no parking to create better road safety, perhaps this something the Thames Ditton Foundation can enact.
