PLEASE BE VIGILANT!

Approximately 300 red tiles were stolen from Parkwood Avenue 26/27th August. Your Weston Green Councillors informed residents immediately requesting that residents be on their guard in case of a ‘repeat performance’. They also gave advice as to what they should do if they witnessed anything suspicious.

This advice proved invaluable in 2013 when there was a similar theft. On that occasion an astute resident dialled 999 and the perpetrators of the crime were arrested and the tiles retrieved. A result! The police advice is as follows and we ask all residents to please be vigilant. If anyone hears a noise in the middle of the night please do the following:

1. Do not disturb the criminals

2. Dial 999 and tell the police that there is a crime IN PROGRESS.

3. Take down the registration number of a vehicle – if you can see it.

4. Should the vehicle move away – note the direction of travel

5. Make a note of the description of the perpetrators of the crime. (you will forget if you don’t write it down!)

Residents should also be aware that nobody (even workmen in high-vis jackets!) should be removing tiles during the day. Thieves are often very blatant and rely on residents not questioning anyone in ‘uniform’. It is hoped that the two areas where the theft has taken place will be reinstated as soon as possible.
