Small sink hole leads to road closure of Thames Ditton High Street
On Thursday 31 July a small sink hole was noticed in Thames Ditton High Street and reported to Surrey County Council. The council's Highway Department inspected it soon after, and a decision was made to close the High Street to road traffic while further evaluation work was carried out to determine the extent of the problem and its cause.
At this stage it is not known how long the closure will last.
Surrey CC's website will have updates as details of the sink hole are determined - Click here to go to the council's Causeway One platform for the latest information.
UPDATE
The road has been excavated around the subsidence, and the problem doesn't appear to be very deep-seated. As of late Friday morning (1 Aug.) the road remains closed to traffic between the Ashley Road and Watts Road junctions.
