Council to consider Vital Village proposal

Elmbridge Borough Council (EBC) have posted the latest developments regarding their search for a new operating model for the Thames Ditton Community Centre, and the proposal by Vital Village Community Interest Company.

Following Vital Village's discussions with EBC, and its recent Open Day, their proposal will now be considered by the Council's Cabinet at a meeting on Wednesday 7 February at 7.00pm.

The meeting will be webcast live. The Vital Village proposal is Item 9 on the agenda, immediately following consideration of the petition, 'Save our Thames Ditton Community Centre'.

UPDATE:  Elmbridge Cabinet agreed to lease the Thames Ditton Community Centre to Vital Village, a community interest company founded by a local resident.

FURTHER UPDATE:  The decision by the Cabinet to lease the Community Centre to Vital Village has been ‘called in’ by five Councillors, and the proposal will now be reviewed by the Council’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee.  Details of the date for the O & S Committee meeting will follow.

FURTHER UPDATE: At the Overview and Scrutiny on March 15 the plan was confirmed for the council to lease the Community Centre to the Community Interest Company, Vital Village  to develop a community-hub focusing on sustainability, health and well-being and community gatherings.
