There is now an unauthorised encampment at Longmead Road, Weston Green and the Council’s Gypsy/Traveller Liaison Officer are carrying out an assessment required under the legal protocol for dealing with unauthorised gypsy/traveller sites.

The Council is then likely to serve them with a Notice of Direction to leave under Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994. If they do not leave in compliance with this Notice,  the Council will seek a removal order from the Magistrates Court.

The Council’s protocol for the Management of Unauthorised Gypsy and Traveller Encampments was updated in September 2015.

UPDATE:  The travellers were moved off the Longmead Road site on Friday 26th, and the site has now been cleared and re-secured.
