Title: Thames Ditton High Street Off-License
Post by: Highways Contact on November 07, 2014, 12:35:10 PM
I spoke this morning with an experienced retailer who is pondering a proposal to turn the defunct off-license into a charity shop. I might help in some way and am interested to know what everyone thinks. At this point there haven't been any approaches to the freeholder, but clearly anything is better than the current situation. In terms of demand, I know that the Home of Compassion charity shop provided a useful role which has been missed.

Great idea !

Would Caring Homes be interested in the shop as Social Enterprise ? Presumably they have policies in place to deal with the responsible and sustainable disposal of the possessions of their residents as they arrive and depart ?

I would assume, considering the scale and significance of the HoC redevelopment that someone from the TD community is liaising with Caring Homes in relation to the build, future management and community engagement ?

My thinking was for the charity shop on the High Street in the current vacant shop next to The Stitchery. The Home of Compassion build costs would make it hard to justify a charity shop in their new build.

I wasn't suggesting anything different from that.

Yes, the owner is selling the entire Freehold - two flats above (good sizes) and there is a courtyard garden at rear.

With an extension, perhaps it could be about six beds backing onto the g and d car park.
