Title: Train delays today

Some problems at Surbiton - according to the above it's signal issues but on Facebook I read it's a lightning strike..

'Trains between London Waterloo and Hampton Court will not be running. Passengers will need to use London Buses.'

Sorry what London busses run to Thames Ditton ?????

Last time I had to take one as we did not have trains I had to pay for the privilege as it had not been communicated to the surrey busses that we had no trains ...

Yup it's crazy!  Having said that, even if they did communicate that the Surrey buses would accept your tickets, they are so infrequent that it probably wouldn't help.  Shame we don't have a London bus service (with regular frequency) running from Kingston/Surb/TD/Hampton Court.

SWT could really do with sorting out their emergency plan - the Hampton Court/Thames Ditton sacrifice isn't fair.

Do take up Southworst's problems with Dominic Raab mp.  He is very supportive, and only the government can resolve the problems.  (A very weak franchise agreement, heavily in Southworst's favour, is apparently the route cause).   The government should surely terminate the franchise agreement forthwith as not fit for purpose.

Thames Ditton gets the worst of it - a once-an-hour service back from London from 8:40pm onwards, and our line is always the first to be cancelled when there are problems elsewhere.    When a shuttle service is imposed, it is then almost impossible to board a London bound train at Surbiton because of congestion.

The rolling stock is antiquated and without air conditioning.  Southworst will not replace or upgrade it, because they say it has not reached the end of its life....meaning Southworst's profit takes precedence over the service offered to passengers.

I have to commend how this was handled in the end.

The staff at Surbiton are obviously well aware we don't have a London buses option and the surrey busses are a bit rubbish.

They put on taxis and they have worked out a reasonable and well coordinated system.

In this instance - well done sw trains. I think the total delay to myself was about 30 minutes and considering the issues they had to deal with (genuine ones) it was well handled.

Hope everyone else managed to get home ok on Friday.
