Title: Letter through my letter box 22-05-13 - re parking in Ashley road
Post by: rudi on June 03, 2013, 10:02:22 PM
Hi - can the 'Fellow resident' who posted a somewhat presumptuous letter through my letter box regarding alleged inconsiderate parking on the 22nd May please PM me. You owe me a rather BIG apology!

Haha did it mention 'fair parking' a number of times? I've had similar if so

Honestly I think the moment someone posts an 'anonymous' note they lose a leg to stand on.

If they have a genuine case then why hide behind anonymity?

And also deny the person it is directed at the ability to eitehr respond/defend themselves or if they are in the wrong apologise?

Personally if I had done something someone deemed inconsiderate (I like to think I never would but you never know!) - I would respond far more favourably if whomever it was that is aggrieved told me in person OR at the least signed a note.  I guarantee that 9 times out of 10 (even if I thought I was in the right) I would most probably apologise.

Whereas if the note was anonymous my instant reaction would be that whomever it was is a PITA and deserves to be ignored... AND if I subsequently found out who put the note I would respond well a little less favourably... !!

So my question is - why do people do it? i.e. put anonymous notes? If they stopped to think how they would react then surely common sense would dictate that either you need to speak to the person or just let it lie.

Harsh? Maybe ...

not harsh at all, totally agree. It sounds like in Rudi's case it has gone further than ref parking and been more personal which is even worse and totally uncalled for.

What's all this then?! - first I have heard about these notes, for from the above there have been more than one.  Who else has had one?  Any clues?  (pm me if preferred).

Juninho - I totally agree with your comments.... even if i thought i wasn't in the wrong i would still go some way to appease and placate to be neighbourly.

The person who wrote it is on the forum (I believe) so as I said, whoever it is please PM me and I will explain why you owe me an apology in the first instance!

Come on ....no one has owned up! whoever wrote the letter was audacious enough to (a) post it through my letter box and (b)  spend some considerable time on its rather long accusative and sarcastic passive aggressive contents, SO they can surely be brave enough to PM me! If not... you leave me no alternative but to deal with it face to face.... you left enough clues to who you are and the village is a small place. I have a right to reply!!

out of interest, without being specific if you dont want to, what is the crime you're being accused of and is there any basis for the accusation?

Alledged offence: Boxing in their car and being a selfish and inconsiderate Parker blah blah blah... Letter rant at Least 4 paragraphs long!
Not guilty: we were in the States for my partners birthday and got home on Monday 3rd of June. Terrible offence committed on the 22nd when we were having a lovely time I'm LA! That's why I'm p...ed!

You could just pin a notice on your gate or wall etc saying politely that you were in LA etc and it wasn't your car.  Just write in calm, factual, unoffensive language without insulting anyone.  Probably not as satisfying as confronting in person - but you have got your side out for your neighbours to read and will probably make the person responsible feel pretty stupid.  Also, you are taking the "high road" which is always more satisfying in the long run.  Just a thought.

I do love living in a village!  Once, I lived in a tiny one and the ding-dongs between villagers, all of whom were individually adorable, were something to behold.

Karen Randolph is a trained mediator should her services be required.

I am told that there was a horrible slanging match in the High Street on Tuesday,  f and c words screeched between two well known people in the Street.  Nothing to do with parking though.  A shame I was at work and missed it!!!  ;D

Is it same person from a couple of years ago that used to leave notes, despite having three cars parked on the High Street?

People in Thames Ditton using the f and c words ... in public .... wow.  Was it traffic related?

No!  This news spread like wildfire, but IMHO is better left to quieten down in the hope that the parties reach a better understanding.  It's been a hot week.

Not hot enough.

I cycled to Surbiton in my shorts the other day and I found it quite chilly.

It wasn't a pretty sight!

BTW - your old bike is still going strong as my trusty steed!  And as a bonus does not seem to be the target of theives/vandals as I have on more than one occasion forgotten to lock it up outside my house.

Though I did have the chain break on me a few days ago (though thats the fault of the current owner - poor maintenance!)!

What did this letter say, as the passageway is nearly open and I may wish to use.
