There should be two trains to Victoria and two trains to Waterloo each hour. Changing at Surbiton in order to travel to Waterloo in the rush hour will entail standing for the entire journey (if you can actually get on a train, that is) !

My only concern is will it be 4 trains an hour during the evening too? Even 2 would be an improvement but this isn't mentioned anywhere!

The consultation finishes in 4 days time on the 8th January 2016 if you wish to comment. I agree I think 4 trains per hour will greatly improve the connectivity of Thames Ditton - it is a shame that we'll lose the direct Waterloo service but not such a big deal with a change in Surbiton. I would be a bit upset if Surbiton loses its fast Waterloo services. I agree - it would be good if Crossrail2 could kickstart an improvement to the road system around Hampton Court too.

Personally I think it a fantastic idea, ok we will loose the direct link to Waterloo and gain 4 trains an hour directly into central London and onto the High Speed train network, making train journeys to Manchester and the continent a serious alternative to flying. Although it'll be my kids that will really benefit, I've also read its predicted to add a further £200k to house prices! The thoughts I've had about local impact is 1) The level crossing on Summer Road, surely with 8 trains an hour and their length (1500 passengers) this crossing will be closed more often than open. There will have to be a different solution to an automatic barrier, maybe a bridge or tunnel! 2) I imagine that this will kick into touch any immediate development plans for Hampton Court station, which as a terminus to a major rail network will need a real rethink and possibly an opportunity to redesign the whole area. My thoughts are with such a major tourist attraction nearby, there is real potential to redesign the whole road system and unlock the potential for bridge road as a pedestrian area (as it did for the station redesign in Windsor which had the same issue 10 years ago). Also this should be factored into the business case for the bridge at Thames Ditton reach. 3) Just to point out this train system will use overhead cables and will probably have an impact on the area and TD station, which I'm sure some people will object to. Just some blue sky thoughts.

Crossrail 2 was created by Howard
TfL have initiated a third round of consultation for Crossrail 2. The plans will see Thames Ditton have a service entirely run by Crossrail 2 (i.e. replacing any direct service to Waterloo currently run by South West Trains) but with direct connections to Chelsea, Victoria, Euston and beyond and with an increased service level of 4 trains per hour in each direction. I think this is great news!
