Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling 2015

Having read feedback on various social media sites it does seem that there is lot of confusion on what you can and cannot do during the road closures for the Ride100. As someone who thinks this event is a fantastic opportunity (I know this is not a view shared by everyone), perhaps for the next event we need to liaise with the organisers and try and clear up some of the confusion with the community. For example I know after discussion with the organisers there does seem to be ways out of TD (as mentioned already) meaning we are not locked in as many people think. Happy to help the RA if the think they need it.

I e-mailed the contact at RideLondon who had sent out the original links to the road closure information.

I asked him to confirm my interpretation of the map. Specifically that villagers will still be able cross the Hampton Court way to make their way to Molesey and beyond as the Hampton Court way itself is not closed; although there will be no access or exit from it at Hampton Court Bridge or the Scilly Isles roundabout.

He has replied to say ....

'Yes your interpretation is correct. From Hampton Court way you can head west towards Molesey and Hersham to reach the A3 etc. additionally traffic management is in place if residents travel to lower green road/more lane to Esher, they can continue on to Stony Hill to Cobham.'

I don't understand that.

On the map the Hampton Court Way itself is not closed so we should be able to cross at Embercourt Road and get down to Walton etc. Did the person who answered the phone say that would not be possible?

It's not very clear to me either from the leaflet but sounds like the whole village is effectively closed from 07:30 to 19:30!

I just called the number (the wife is due on the 3rd of August!) - and there are emergency crossing points that they will advise me of!

I have assumed that - as the road is shown clearly as not closed - we will be able to cross the Hampton Court way.

Do we know yet if we can cross the Hampton Court way during the race to leave Thames Ditton? It isn't actually used for the race so isn't marked as closed but I know there have been uncertainties in previous years. I tried phoning up last year but couldn't get a straight answer.

From 6 July, the road closure leaflets about the Prudential RideLondon road closures will be distributed around the route in London and Surrey. Information will include road closure timings and maps.

Specific local access information for a number of communities in Surrey is also available online (only) at www.PrudentialRideLondon.co.uk/community-access .

I have received a newsletter (probably along with many others) to say the Prudential RideLondon festival of cycling will take place on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2015.

The events that may have an impact on Thames Ditton (The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 and Prudential RideLondon-Surrey Classic) will take place in London and Surrey on Sunday 2 August 2015. More than 85,000 people entered the ballot to take part in the ride, of which up to 25,000 will take part.

The routes for the 2015 events will be confirmed in the next few months. They will be sent out via the newsletter as soon as they are available. If I receive any information I will add it to this topic.
