Milbourne Pond 24 BeforeAfter LR

Milbourne Pond area opened up once more by local resident volunteers

Last Saturday, 9 November, local residents turned out once again for the RA-organised cut-back of the vegetation around Milbourne Pond.

Since the pond was reprofiled and restored back in 2018 the vigorous growth, especially pussy willow and brambles has needed cutting back every two years to stop it taking over the area completely.

However this past summer has seen even more rapid growth, necessitating another cut-back after just one year.  And it really needed it too.  Our estimated working time of 10am-12noon had to be extended somewhat, but the end result was worth it.

So thank you to the residents, young and old for the hard work they put in clearing out the overgrowth and piling up the cuttings for the council to clear away.  There would have been some aching muscles and sore hands by the end of it, but it was a job well done.

Now opened up once more, others can continue to enjoy the lovely area around Milbourne Pond.
