Profiles - Hinchley Wood & Weston Green Ward

     


Nigel Haig-Brown

Nigel has been a councillor for Hinchley Wood since 2014, working actively in the East Area Planning Committee which takes in Weston Green and Hinchley Wood. Work in this demanding area is vital to resist the pressure of overdevelopment and protect our community's environment. He also serves on the Overview & Scrutiny Committee, the Audit & Standards Committee, the Heathrow Task & Finish Group and the Information Technology Steering Group.

Nigel has lived in Hinchley Wood for the last 19 years. He works with the local scout group as an adult selector, and has recently joined the Finance Panel at the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher.

Tannia Shipley

Tannia has lived in Weston Green for 30 years, and has been a councillor there for the past 17 years. With her considerable experience and boundless energy she has worked in most Elmbridge council committees, the most important of which being the East Area Planning Committee. She has also worked in Environmental, Community Affairs and Licensing Committees.

In addition, Tannia supports the vulnerable in our community - she is Chair of the Elmbridge Older People's Advisory Body and a Trustee for the Elmbridge Trust for Older People and for the local charity, Walsingham Care. She is a Trustee and Chairman of the RC Sherriff Trust for the arts, and is currently the Deputy Mayor of Elmbridge.

Janet Turner

Janet has worked tirelessly as councillor for Hinchley Wood for the past 21 years, having lived there for 35 years. With a wealth of experience she has served on all council committees, very importantly the Planning Committees, and has chaired the demanding Overview & Scrutiny Committee and also the Countryside Committee that looks after our commons. Previously she held the portfolio for Leisure & Culture, and was instrumental in the development of the Xcel Leisure Centre.

In addition, Janet serves on the working group for the Friends of Thames Ditton Hospital. She was a Governor of Hinchley Wood Primary School for 18 years, and has previously served as the Mayor of Elmbridge.
