One normally pays little attention to items going through the tills at Waitrose.  But yesterday my wife spotted no less than four separate items that were billed more than once.  The management, tackled on this, were apologetic (but no more than that) and rectified the bill.  Hassle.  Anyone else had this happen?  You might like to keep a close eye.

This happened today in Surbiton. We might not have noticed but an item costing £25 was charged twice!

Terrible!! I use the self scan, so it will be my fault if it happens. It's a very good way of avoiding the tills.

Always on a tight budget at university - I always used to mentally tot up as I go along... A habit I preserved until only a few years ago...

This way you already know what to expect and if it didn't match you could correct it immediately, also used to help keep my mind busy whilst shopping!

I still do check my reciept after and at times it is wrong (very rarely I should say)- more often it's not a mistake by the teller but a certain offer hasn't applied etc. It's always a pain to get corrected after the fact though (and I have not bothered on one occasion at least).

Anyways - I suggest that... Add up as you go along!!

Happened again today - Waitrose Esher, 36 bottles of beer entered  in the till instead of 3, calm as you please.  Have to wait before bill paid before going to management for check and refund, management apologetic, but one can do without the hassle.

I think they ought to offer the equivalent in free purchases to the excess racked up on the bill.  That might reduce these errors.

If it's happened to us twice in two weeks, how often does it happen to others (and how often do they notice?).  How often does the cashier ring up too little instead of too much (I bet hardly ever)

I've had it at m and a on hampton court way also. Though my worst was in Geneva where Having entered my pin code I discovered that I had signed for 150,000 Swiss francs rather than 15.00!

You must have a pretty impressive credit card allowance !!! I've just looked up the exchange rate!

After being charged £44.00 for something that should have only been £4.00 I started checking my bill every time.  However, it all takes time and gradually I have lapsed .... this thread makes me think perhaps I should start again.  My incident was Sainsburys but it could happen anywhere.
