Traveller Encampment on Ditton Common 

In the last few days you may have witnessed a sight we haven't had around here for a few years - a traveller encampment on common land at the junction of Hampton Court Way and Portsmouth Road - by the Scilly Isles roundabout (see below).  It appeared last Wednesday.

Elmbridge Borough Council is aware of it and will be serving the travellers with an order to leave.

The injunction granted to the council in 2018, allowing the rapid removal of illegal encampments, was no longer valid after 2020 due to a change in the law.  So, for this encampment, a court order may be required - as was the situation prior to the injunction.
