Surrey Police have issued the following dispersal order.
From Elmbridge Borough Commander, Dallas McDermott :
Due to the recent increase in ASB and crime/disorder across Thames Ditton, Weston Green and Hinchley Wood, I have authorised a rolling dispersal order for the area under S34 ASB Crime & Policing Act 2014.
The order will commence this Friday at 4pm and run between 4pm and 2am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday for 1 month, where I will then review it. These time periods are when the vast majority of incidents have occurred.
I have attached a copy of the dispersal zone for your information and we will be publishing this on our Facebook site and In The Know.
If a constable in uniform has reasonable grounds to suspect that the behaviour of the person in the locality has contributed to or is likely to contribute to members of the public in the locality being harassed, alarmed or distressed, or the occurrence in the locality of crime or disorder, then the constable can give a direction for the purpose of removing or reducing the likelihood of these events that the person is to leave the area and exclude them for a period of up to 48 hours. If the person refuses to leave or returns then they can be arrested. Anyone under the age of 16 years can also be taken to their home address by the constable in the first instance.
As a result of the dispersal order, a tasking and specific briefing screen that goes to all officers on the Division has been generated, which will mean an increase in police presence to the area over the coming month.
