NICK DARBY TO STAND FOR SURREY COUNTY COUNCIL
Thursday 4th May is election day for Surrey County Council. Our Surrey Councillor for the past 12 years, Peter Hickman, will be standing down, having served three terms, and we are very grateful to him for his dedicated service and all he has achieved for our residents.
We are fortunate to have an outstanding candidate, Nick Darby, to follow Peter. Nick has lived in Thames Ditton for over 20 years, and has recently retired following a successful career as a solicitor. He is married with 3 adult children.
As a keen walker on the Elmbridge Commons, Nick has taken a close interest in the recent consultation on Elmbridge's Local Plan, particularly relating to the Long Ditton 'Area 58', and he strongly supports retaining its Green Belt status.
Also of great concern to him are the deficiencies in our social care system, especially in relation to elderly patients' delayed hospital discharge; and the poor state of our infrastructure (roads, schools, GP surgeries). He will work hard for improvement in all these areas.
Nick will also press Conservative-controlled Surrey County Council for open, competent financial management, following the damning independent CIPFA* report on its financial management. Financial competence is always important, but is especially so in these straitened times when budgets are tight.

So, on Thursday 4th May, please support Nick to elect a Councillor who will actively work in residents' interest, not just blindly follow a national party line.
