It's approaching that time of year for the Residents' Association's popular Secret Gardens event. This year it's in Weston Green, next Sunday 23rd June, 1-5pm.
There are ten gardens on show, seven of which are opening for the first time. They're all in an area that can be walked comfortably - if you're able to manage some 4½ km (2¾ miles). Of course that will work up a thirst, so half-way round you can call in to All Saints Weston for afternoon tea, scrummy cake, and a stroll round their memorial garden. Then at the end of your gardens tour, more refreshment can be had nearby at Marney's Village Inn.
Just £5 is all it costs to see all ten gardens. Money raised goes towards Weston Green conservation projects, such as the recent restoration of Milbourne Pond. Tickets can be obtained from :-
- Marney's Village Inn, Alma Road
- Secret Garden flower shop, Thames Ditton High Street
- George & Dragon pub, Thames Ditton High Street
- Crossy's, Hinchley Wood
- Cllr Tannia Shipley (020 8398 2484)
- Cllr Nigel Haig-Brown (020 8398 4060)
- Cllr Janet Turner (020 8398 1565)
And if ten gardens are not enough for you, there are another two Weston Green gardens open on the same day, in the National Gardens Scheme. Another £5 will gain entry to both. Money raised by NGS gardens goes to numerous charities in the UK.
